Imposter Syndrome
We understand all too well what it's like to live with a bully. They don't have to be in the same room, or even the same state to incite fear that keeps us looking over our shoulders.
There’s an inner harasser standing at the ready to dress us down as soon as we get into a creative flow.
Why are you even singing? You don't sound like ____.
Don't write about ____, you'll sound ridiculous.
Don't even try that! You'll never do it as well as ____.
Maybe yours is meaner, or so subtle that you're not even aware of all the things you might try if an invisible editor wasn't keeping you from thinking outside the box.
On Saturday, April 11th, you're invited to a workshop where WE'LL be the ones dressing down the inner critic!
Through writing prompts and sharing, the sneaky nature of our particular style of bully will become clear. We'll highlight craft tools that give us the superpower to disarm any shade our internal or external, real-life critics throw at us.
Participants are asked to bring a song they've felt hesitant or unsure about to be used in real-time demonstrations of how our inner critic tools work in action!

This “All Songs Considered” style performance and discussion explores the stories and creative process behind the songs.
