WEEKLY ONLINE SONGWRITING

Every great artistic movement started the same way — a room full of creators pushing each other to go deeper, dream bigger, create bolder.

Two women standing in front of a yellow door, smiling, with a guitar on the ground between them. One is wearing a denim jacket and orange dress, the other a black blazer and jeans.

salons for songwriters

The salons of Enlightenment Paris, the Dadaists breaking every rule in Zurich's Cabaret Voltaire, Picasso's Montmartre circle, The Harlem Renaissance. History's most extraordinary art didn't happen in isolation—it bloomed in creative salons where artists gathered to challenge, inspire, and elevate each other's work.

Two women playing guitars outdoors in a garden, one with curly gray hair wearing a black jacket, and the other with short blond hair wearing a denim jacket and orange dress, in front of a wooden fence.

At Supernova, our Song Salons carry on this tradition. We're creating the space where female songwriters come together to birth extraordinary music—if you're writing lullabies that will shape the next generation in your living room, or anthems that will change the world from stadium stages. Both matter. Both deserve to be extraordinary.

Whether you're seasoned or just starting out, you'll be surrounded by women who understand that your voice—however you choose to use it—has power. This is where raw talent meets fearless community.

Extraordinary songs

A woman with curly hair and earrings, wearing an orange sweater, is looking down at an open notebook or journal on a table. The scene is indoors with wooden paneling in the background and a screen or monitor displaying a blurred image.

craft + agency

What makes Song Salons different? You remain the expert on your own work.

There's no outside authority telling you what your song needs. Instead, we create a container where your work is reflected back to you—highlighting what's already working so you can see your song clearly and investigate your own intuitive hunches about what wants to happen next.

You bring your craft tools. You stay in your full sovereignty and creative agency. We simply hold space for you to discover what you already know.

how it works

Writing songs can be a lonely journey. Without feedback, it’s easy to get lost in self-doubt, second-guessing your ideas, or abandoning them altogether. The truth is, creativity thrives in community—but finding the right people you can trust to support your growth as a songwriter can feel impossible.

  • Bring a recording - scratch demo or a produced track, whatever you got - or play it live for the group in a safe container of people who are listening intently for what is working.

  • ...but not just any feedback. The Gateless method focuses on what is already working, highlighting what can be further developed and trusting your intelligence as the creator to investigate what needs more craft.

Unlike most song groups who believe critique moves songs forward, we use a trauma-informed approach. We know that female artists often experience criticism as unsafe, leading to nervous system shutdown. Instead, we keep creative energy flowing by supporting what's already resonant and trusting that your best work emerges through encouragement, craft development, and time.

We do not offer or allow critical feedback of any kind.

  • Develop your own listening and Gateless feedback as your give to the other members of the group. This only will grow your own songwriter like you cannot even imagine!

  • What you'll walk away with:

    • Clarity on what's already working in your song

    • Vision for the deeper truth it's reaching toward

    • Confidence to trust your creative instincts

    • Fresh ideas to fuel your next creation

    • A circle of women ready to witness your work when it's ready

    • The Gateless method focuses on what’s already working in your song, highlighting its strengths and emotional resonance. Instead of criticism or suggestions for improvement, we celebrate what’s shining—and then leave the rest up to curiosity and craft.

Creating in community, with trusted peers, is a gift we can give one another. What is so hard to see in myself, my own expansive beauty, is SO EASY TO SEE AND WITNESS IN YOU.

    • invaluable support

Song salon is a fun and laid-back space to share, co-create with amazing women, and receive invaluable support and insight. As a new/ aspiring songwriter, I learned so much at my first song salon and feel blessed to be a part of this inspiring community.

    • reformed lone wolf

I’ve unintentionally taken these years-long hiatuses from songwriting/playing. The Song Salon let me use old (sometimes rough) recordings instead of playing live, which has always been beyond nerve-wracking for me. This allowed me to ease into the process and enjoy all the camaraderie, support, and feedback in a more comfortable place. ! I just didn't know how much I needed a space to share like this, to be and evolve, until I got a taste of that support. The care and feedback helps me put myself squarely on the map as someone who has something to offer right there with all the beginners and professionals I dearly love to hear. Previously a lone wolf, I can finally really understand and enjoy the need for a certain kind of community to fully support ourselves and others.

    • find + strengthen each unique voice

The Song Salon is an incredibly empowering and inspiring experience that I look forward to every week. From the moment I joined, the atmosphere was warm, supportive, and creatively charged—perfect for both seasoned songwriters and beginners alike. Katie and Karen were not only knowledgeable and passionate, but also deeply committed to helping everyone find and strengthen their unique voice. What made it truly special was the sense of community and connection—everyone was encouraged to share openly and lift each other up. Every session brings me a renewed sense of confidence, creativity, and sisterhood. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
